Walking with Bailey
Awabakal/Worimi - Newcastle/Callaghan Community
Islington Public School had the incredible honour of joining local Worimi man Bailey Myers on the final 10 kilometres of his remarkable 6,000-kilometre journey from Perth to Newcastle. Bailey, a 22-year-old, walked across Australia, raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF). His journey, which began on 3 March, was a six-month trek that saw him navigate the vast distances with a hand cart decorated with the handprints of Indigenous students from his former high school, Callaghan College Waratah Campus.

Biripi - Hastings Community
This is the second year we have had a combined schools NAIDOC Day in the Camden Haven area. Seven public schools came together this year to celebrate with Elders and community members this year's theme for NAIDOC Week: 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud!' We hope you enjoy this short highlights video capturing some of our fantastic experiences.
Maclean High School students and staff were extremely proud to have an Acknowledgment Wall mural installed in the A Block foyer at the entrance from the quad last week. This space has been well overdue for a facelift and the result has been fantastic.
The Acknowledgment Wall symbolises Maclean High School's strong ties with the Yaegl Community.
The Bradbury Preschool Wombats were honoured with a special award at the 32nd Annual MIL-PRA AECG Art Exhibition for their project, Emu Egg Journey of Discovery. While 16 families could attend the ceremony and receive the award on stage, this significant achievement resulted from a term-long project involving 40 children.

“I love seeing stories of what our kids are doing at school with the local community. It’s also great to have the stories saved on our local community site so we can come back to them at a later date. I’m looking forward to sharing the stories with our kids when they’re older.”

“When I went to school it wasn’t easy to find information about where I was from. Sharing my story has enabled me to pass on my knowledge to future generations.”
